March 19th, 2006

Every time this day passes each year I just chuckle to myself. This day 3 years ago was Lindsey's estimated due date. When I look back on it now I have no idea how I didn't have some sort of breakdown with all of the stress surrounding this time in our life. Ryan was finishing up his semester of school and would have to start back at his co-op in OH a couple days after my due date. We just always assumed Lindsey would be here by then and we would just go with him. I also came down with the nastiest sinus infection I have ever experienced. I couldn't lift my head up because I was in so much pain, so I spent all day and night steaming myself over the stove. I don't think I slept hardly at all the whole time I had it. They were hesitant to give me any antibiotics because I was so preggo, so it just got worse and worse and I finally ended up in the hospital for a NST (non stress test) because I felt so crappy and I swore Lindsey wasn't moving much anymore. Everything was fine though. The next day Ryan had to move to OH, and there was no way I could even help him pack all of our stuff, so luckily we got some recruits to help. Ryan's mom Linda came over and helped pack. I desperately called my BFF Nicole and she came over and helped Ryan pack. Then Ryan, Nicole, and my brother Scott all drove cars full of our stuff to OH and helped Ryan move it all in. I was so grateful, I was still in agony and stayed at my parents' house.

The plan was to call Ryan as soon as I felt any contractions and he would make the 3 hour drive to MI. It was a little nerve wrecking, to say the least, to have him 3 hours away while I sat in MI overdue. I finally got some antibiotics that week and felt so much better a couple of days later. Now that I look back on it, I'm glad Lindsey didn't come out on time because there was no way I could have went through labor with the sinus infection. I really think God was watching out for me and knew I needed to get better and get my strength back before labor and delivery. I didn't expect to get induced, but finally being a week and a half overdue the midwife thought it best that I come in and we started the gel at 11 p.m. Wed. March 29th. I'll save the rest of the story for her birthday!

I can't believe Sara's 1st birthday is only 2 days away! We are heading to MI this afternoon to start the festivities. I'm sure we'll have tons of pictures of the party to post Saturday, along with her 1 year slideshow that Ryan is working on.
