Party Planning!

Everyone I've come in contact with in the last 2 weeks has heard me blabber on and on about everything to do with Sara and Lindsey's birthday parties. I just feel so overwhelmed this year, and I'm not usually one to get worked up about having people over. Sara's theme will be baby Sesame Street. Our friend Wynter had used this theme for her son a little over a year ago and still had all of her FABULOUS decorations (she totally made it look like Sesame Street) and graciously offered to let us use them. I think Sara will love it and Sesame Street has been easy to shop and find decor for. Her party is a week from Saturday at my parents' house in MI. We did Lindsey's 1st birthday party in MI too, we feel it's their most special birthday so they should spend it with as much family as possible. Sara's party planning has went smoothly so far. The only thing we really have left to do is make the Elmo cake (Wynter also has an Elmo cake pan). Ryan did Mickey Mouse so well last year, I figured he could handle Elmo too! This is not the party overwhelming me........

For the last 6 months Lindsey has gotten really into Clifford the Big Red Dog. It just so happens to come on at 2:30 on PBS, so everyday she watches Clifford right before she goes down for her nap, it is her wind down time. It is tied with Mickey for favorites. Since we did Mickey last year we decided to go with Clifford this year, little did we know Clifford party supplies don't really exist except for on Ebay. This means we're having to be creative and come up with a lot on our own. We are ordering 2 Clifford balloons, and my mom is bringing 2 Clifford posters and that is all the Clifford we will have for decorations. Everything else will be red. Here are our ideas so far (please feel free to offer more if you come up with anything!). We are building a dog house out of a cardboard box and painting it red. We ordered bone shaped dog tags for each kid with Clifford on it. I'm making "puppy chow" ( chex mix, peanut butter, chocolate, and powdered sugar). We are making a bone shaped cake. We are making dog bone cookies and letting the kids frost them with red frosting. We have Scooby Doo graham cracker snacks that are shaped like bones. We are decorating a dog bowl for each kid to eat out of. My mom is cutting out a ton of red paw prints to put around the house. We are making red headbands with construction paper with Clifford ears for each kid instead of a party hat. We are playing "Doggy doggy where's your bone". These are our ideas so far, and we have a lot to get done in 2.5 weeks! I just hope the kids have fun, and if anyone thinks of anymore fun doggie ideas let me know!

We are going to the Science Center tomorrow with our mom's group. They have a water table for the kids, and more. Should be lots of fun, I'm sure I'll be posting pictures and how our day went tomorrow night or Thursday!

  1. Peyton's birthday party was baby Sesame Street too. I don't know if you remember the invitations or not, but they were baby Big Bird, Elmo, and Cookie Monster with the number 1. We have 4 packs (I think) of 8 paper cups each that match the party supplies. Do you want me to send them to you? We never used them because we ended up just buying cans of soda instead of bottles. Let me know.
